Top Reasons to Meet in Atlanta...
- Atlanta is Accessible - Nearly 80% of the U.S. population is within a two-hour flight of Atlanta. Today the fast-growing city remains a transportation hub, not just for the country but also for the world: Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport is one of the nation's busiest in daily passenger flights. Look to Atlanta to grow your global attendance. Accessibility expands with the opening of a new international terminal in 2012, adding more gates and more flights from destinations around the world.
- In Atlanta, It's All Right Here - Our compact convention district is within walking distance of the 4th largest convention center in the country, the Georgia World Congress Center, 12,000 hotel rooms, more than 315 restaurants and the city's top attractions.
- Something for Everyone - From the World of Coca-Cola, Inside CNN Atlanta Studio Tour and the world's largest aquarium, Georgia Aquarium, to more than 11,000 permanent works at the High Museum of Art, The Carter Presidential Library, Atlanta History Center, MLK Jr. National Historic Site, and outdoor fun at Stone Mountain Park, the top attractions in Atlanta, GA offer something for everyone.
Dolphins coming in 2011!
The Georgia Aquarium will be opening a $110 million dolphin exhibit! The expansion has added 84,000 square feet to the facility (about the size of two football fields), including a 1.3 million gallon exhibit to accommodate bottlenose dolphins. Located on the west side of the present building near the Luckie Street parking deck entrance, the building will encompass areas that will include dolphin encounters, viewing windows and dolphin shows. The bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) who will initially inhabit the Aquarium's new building will come from Marineland's Dolphin Conservation Center.
Since opening, Georgia Aquarium has conducted research and conservation programs with marine animnals inclulding whale sharks, beluga whales, coral reefs and sea turtles. With the announcement that dolphins are coming to Atlanta, the Aquarium also announced that this same dedication to research and conservation will be applied to dolphins.
