City of New Orleans Awarded Super Bowl XLVII
The National Football League announced that New Orleans will host Super Bowl XLVII in 2013, once again showing that New Orleans is one of the premier destinations for major sporting events. Following the 2008 NBA All-Star Game and the 2008 BCS Champtionship, and right on the heels of the 2012 NCAA Men's Final Four, this will be the 10th time New Orleans has hosted the Super Bowl, tying with South Florida as the most selected locations. The Super Bowl will be followed directly by the 2013 Women's Final Four in April. The New Orleans Saints recently reached an agreement with the State of Louisiana on a new long-term lease which includes a number of facility improvements in addition to the creation of a Sports and Entertainment District around the Dome.
